Good morning! Beautiful day at the farm
today. It is supposed to be clearing up over the next couple of days and temps
rising, so there will be some happy people and plants here at the farm. We have
snap peas, several kinds of beets and carrots, several kinds of kale, spinach
already up and growing like mad in the field. The greenhouse is fair to
bursting with all manner of wonderful goodness...at least 10 different kinds of
tomatoes, peppers, broccoli, cauliflower, flowers, herbs, eggplant and more.
Every day as soon as I get here, I head to the greenhouse for a look. The miracle of putting a tiny seed in the dirt and then watching what unfolds continues to amaze and delight me, even after all these years of growing food. It gets in your blood and you can't live without it. Margaret Atwood said that "in spring, at the end of the day, you should smell like dirt" and I could not agree more.
